Deloitte Thought Leadership Webinar

Is it worth it? The economics of major sporting events.

Bidding for and staging a Major Sporting Event can have a significant impact on local and regional businesses, communities and economy. However, most host and bid cities fail to realise the full potential of the bid process and the event itself.  It is easy to over-promise and under-deliver.

Join Deloitte UK Partner Heather Hancock as she discusses the challenges of realising the potential benefits from Major Sporting Events, including economic, social and environmental benefits. We will present some case studies from previous events, and also assess the legacy impact for those cities that have bid and failed to host such events.

Heather is the Deloitte UK Lead Client Service Partner for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games as well as Deloitte’s Global Lead Partner for Vancouver 2010, Singapore YOG 2010, and Deloitte’s relationship with the Chicago 2016 bid committee and USOC. She has worked extensively with the UK Government on oversight and assurance for the London 2012 Olympics.
